Residents of Warwick District can earn rewards and win prizes for tracking their active and sustainable travel.
The Choose How You Move in Warwick District challenge, in partnership with BetterPoints, is completely free to join. The scheme saves carbon emissions, increases health and fitness and boosts the local economy by incentivising residents to choose a sustainable means of travel when visiting Warwick District’s town centres.
Participants earn ‘BetterPoints’ for each sustainable journey they make, which can be converted to high street vouchers to redeem in their favourite big name or independent shops such as Smithery, Torry’s Hardware, Zero Store or Bread & Co. Points can also be donated to a range of charities including Warwickshire Pride and The Myton Hospices.
Councils can signpost residents to download the app from the Warwick District Better Points website. Councils can also share this offer with local businesses and partners who would like to offer incentives or discounts. Email climatechange@warwickdc.gov.uk for more information and to register interest.
About Active Travel
Active travel is good for your health and wellbeing, your pocket and the environment.
The Active Travel ‘Choose How You Move’ campaign focuses on small changes we can make on a daily basis, to our journeys.
Building physical activity into daily life is crucial for our health, for our mental wellbeing, and can be easier than fitting in a trip to the gym. Reducing car use also reduces air pollution, which we know has an important impact on health. Even one day or one trip a week without the car, or doing part of a journey differently, can make a huge difference.
Warwick District Council liaise closely with Warwickshire County Council on a lot of aspects of Active Travel and their Active Travel website, is worth a visit for information, guidance and tips”
