More than 1500 visitors attended Warwick District Council’s EcoFest at the Pump Room Gardens. Exhibitors included Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Action 21, Act on Energy, Bee Friendly Leamington, Warwickshire Climate Alliance, Trees Call to Action, Reyousable as well as WDC’s own Climate Change and Contract Services teams. Teams spent the day chatting to local people about a range of issues with many taking part in the interactive sessions. Significant progress with Warwick District’s ‘low cost, low carbon energy strategy’ at a Cabinet meeting with Councillors agreeing to the installation of solar mats to improve the energy efficiency of waste and recycling collection vehicles and also for investment via a ‘soft loan’ which will facilitate plans to install Solar PV panels on identified Council owned public buildings.
