Engaging people in climate action starts with listening to local concerns and co-creating climate and nature-friendly solutions with the community not for the community. Climate change can feel overwhelming, but local action builds trust, strengthens community pride, and delivers real benefits for health, wellbeing, and nature. Learn more about how communities are making a difference: Engaging People in Climate Action (The National Lottery)

At the recent Local Climate Engagement Programme event, participants shared ideas to shape its future through guided conversations. Key themes included:

  • Identity & Purpose: What people know about the LCEP, what they think it does, and how they perceive its role.
  • Strengths & Challenges: What’s working well, what needs improvement, and where there are opportunities for greater impact.
  • Newsletter & Resources: Feedback on the LCEP newsletter and new website, including usefulness, gaps, and interest in contributing content.
  • Events & Collaboration: Ideas for future events, suggestions for new partners, and ways to make collaboration easier.
  • A Just Transition: Ensuring climate action is fair and inclusive, leaving no communities behind.
  • Postcards to the Future: Hopes, offers of help, and requests for support from the LCEP.
  • Feedback Survey: Open space for reflections on what’s working and what could be improved.

These boards created a space for dialogue, creative thinking, and community-led visioning to guide the LCEP’s evolution.

Space did not allow for the following – but participants were encouraged to consider contributing their one crazy goal.

Big Ideas Wall: Aspirations for accelerating climate and nature action across South Warwickshire, including one major goal and how to achieve it.
