Rugby Borough Council declared a climate emergency in 2019, setting an objective to become Net Zero Carbon by 2035. It adopted a Climate Change Strategy in 2022 setting the strategic direction for future climate change work. Progressing this, the Council is now focussing work on Climate Adaptation.

The Climate Adaptation World Café Event on Saturday 9 November at the Benn Hall, in Rugby, aimed to engage with new audiences and stakeholders to drive forward Rugby Borough Council’s work on climate adaptation.

This will be used to inform the Council’s work in relation to Climate Adaptation.

Wolston Parish Council’s Chair, Cllr Tim Willis, spoke about Council and community response to extensive damage in January 2024.  Following a series of public and Council meetings, a flood action group was formed and has made significant progress on alleviating flooding.

A resource marketplace hosted materials and displays from partner organisations, including: Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (WWT), Garden Organic, Rugby Eco Hub, Transition Town Rugby, and Rugby Cycle Forum.
