The Warwickshire Waterways Strategy was created in 2021, but implementation was delayed slightly due to Covid.  To date, the steering group, which has delivered the first action plan, has comprised of members of

  • Canal and River Trust
  • Warwickshire Wildlife Trust
  • Environment Agency
  • South Warwickshire GP Federation
  • Warwickshire County Council

The main highlight of the first action plan was a volunteer led survey of all the towpaths in Warwickshire, and a subsequent report identifying stretches of towpath which can be improved to aid active travel.

The refreshed action plan will provide focus for the activities intended to be completed this year and next year.  Now the strategy is embedded in the above organisations, it is hoped to widen the number of participants shaping the delivery of, supporting, and benefitting from the strategy.
