Congratulations to Leamington and Warwick, who were awarded “Bee Friendly Town” status by the Bee Friendly Trust during World Bee Day on 20 May.

This recognition celebrates the work of Bee Friendly Leamington and Bee Friendly Warwick, supported by neighbouring Kenilworth, a Bee Friendly Town since 2022.

They run the Bee Friendly School Awards programme in Warwick District, delivering Why Bees Matter assemblies to over 4,000 children in 15 schools, as well as running a unique, immersive game to help children to understand of the difficulties facing wild bees and what action they can take to help.

If you would like to see your parish or town become one of the next awarded, visit the Trust’s Bee-Friendly Resources section for information and ideas on how to be Bee Friendly. You can download and display the Bee Friendly Awards poster to recruit support in your area.

The deadline for entry to the Bee Friendly Awards 2025 is Friday, 10 April 2026, with winners announced on World Bee Day on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. All winners receive an Award, certificate, window and lapel stickers plus wildflower seeds to distribute.

Look out for the new entry: Bug Hotel of the Year. The Bee Friendly Trust is looking for the nation’s most unique and supportive bug hotel.
