Warwick District Council (WDC) is inviting local constituted community groups from across Warwick District to take part in a thermal imaging camera loan scheme, to help private residents identify areas of their home where the energy efficiency can be improved.

WDC is working with its partners, including Royal Leamington Spa Town Council and energy charity Act On Energy, to develop the scheme which will see local community groups managing the loan of thermal imaging cameras to residents.

Advice and guidance on what to do with the images and how to interpret them will be provided by the local community groups, with Act On Energy available to advise on grants available for home energy improvements.

Any constituted community group in Warwick District, whether in the four towns of Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth and Whitnash, or any of the District’s villages, that are interested in taking part in the scheme should complete an expression of interest form.

Councillor Lowell Williams, Portfolio Holder for Climate Change at Warwick District Council, said: “A key priority of the Council’s Corporate Strategy is to proactively help residents improve the energy performance of their home, reducing bills, energy consumption and carbon emissions.

“I would encourage any community group in Warwick District that has capacity to operate this loan scheme to come forward and help us provide this free, efficient and effective tool to help residents stay warm this winter.”

Once the community groups have been identified and issued with the cameras, the Council will update residents – homeowners and private tenants – on how to contact their local group to make use of them.

The expression of interest form for community groups will close on Monday 16 December 2024.  Apply now
