The County Committee is delighted to
announce that the threshold for the two for one offer for training has
been increased to £30,000. This means that if your Council
has a budgeted income of between £25,000 and £30,000 WALC
will now subsidise every second training place you book. In
addition, if your Council has a budgeted income of £30,000 or
more, if you book more than 4 training places, the 5th one will be
subsidised by WALC/

Quality Parish Council Status -
Quality Parish and Town Council Scheme Revised
The Government's agenda on
empowerment of community organisations makes it all the more essential
for
parish and town to work towards Quality Status to prove their
effectiveness.
The revised scheme now includes mandatory tests for community
engagement,
promoting local democracy and citizenship and adoption of national
terms and
conditions of employment for clerks, amongst others.
"Local Councils are vital to
re-invigorating local democracy. The Quality Parish and Town Council
Scheme has
played an important role in improving the quality of management and
administration of parish and town councils. The Government welcomes the
revision of the scheme and encourages local councils to consider
seeking
accreditation" Hazel Blears MP, Secretary of State for Communities
and
Local Government
