Proposed changes to the Planning System

Join planning expert Neil Pearce who will present the Proposed changes to the Planning System and how they would impact on parishes - especially in rural parishes.

The government  is out for consultation on two documents that will be discussed in his session.  The deadlines to respond are 1st October and 29th October. 

This session will give you an understanding of what is proposed and therefore enable you to make responses to the government consultations.

Please note that this is a briefing, not a training, session, only Members who have a good understanding of the current planning regulations should register.

Due to the low capacity of this event places are limited to one representative per Member Council.

This session will be recorded and shared in the Members area shortly afterwards for those who were unable to get a place.

Changes to the current planning system
This consultation sets out proposals for measures to improve the effectiveness of the current planning system.

Planning for the future
The Planning for the future consultation proposes reforms of the planning system to streamline and modernise the planning process, bring a new focus to design and sustainability, improve the system of developer contributions to infrastructure, and ensure more land is available for development where it is needed.

2.00 pm

John Crossling will make the opening remarks and then hand over to Neil Pearce who will present for about one hour.

3.10 pm

There will be approximately 15-20 minutes with Neil answering questions which you can submit during the event on the chat function.

3.30 pm

The session will finish

Any questions not addressed during the event can later be submitted to John Crossling who will collate a FAQ sheet which we will circulate to Members, and post in the Members area of our website, after the event.
