Withybrook Parish Council is seeking applicants for the post of Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer. The Clerk plays a central role in the operation of the Council.  Working from home, this position is part time, requiring an average of about 2 hours per week.

Remuneration will be pro-rata in accordance with the NJC pay scales, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Applicants will be required to attend monthly evening meetings and the Annual Parish Meeting. The position would suit a well-organised individual, with an interest in being involved in parish activities.  Previous experience as a Clerk is not necessary, but experience of running a small business would be relevant.  Applicants require good communication, numeracy and appropriate computer skills, including the use of Word, Excel, email and use of the Internet. The role will include taking minutes and managing the Council’s administration and finances.

Duties include:

  • Producing agendas and minutes for all Council meetings.
  • Managing budgets and keeping financial records including monitoring and balancing the Council’s accounts.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory provisions and requirements.
  • Advising the Council on policies and enacting the decisions of the Council.
