Alvechurch is in Stratford-on-Avon District
Applications are invited for the post of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to Alvechurch Parish Council, a progressive Parish Council which thrives on representing an active community.
The successful applicant will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours/week and be paid according to national recommended pay scales subject to experience and qualifications.
Alvechurch is currently the only PC to have an adopted Neighbourhood Plan in Bromsgrove District. The Council maintains a Parish Office (open to the public 8 hours/week) and currently employs an Assistant Clerk, a part-time Support Officer and a parish caretaker.
The Parish Council of 12 Councillors meets monthly in the evenings and the successful applicant will be required to attend these and some Committee meetings. This person will be responsible for preparing agendas and minutes, dealing with correspondence and advising the Council on procedures and policies. A key role is to manage the accounts, present financial information to Council and prepare records for audit purposes.
Good IT skills are essential and a familiarity with the SCRIBE accounting package desirable. Qualifications and experience gained in local government will be helpful but training and support will be given. The Parish Office acts as a community hub and the successful applicant should enjoy meeting the public and have a good sense of humour!
