Both Chairman Paul Tilley and Councillor Will Morley-Brown have resigned from the Parish Council. We would like to thank them both for all their hard work and for their significant contribution to the Parish over the many years that they have served. They will both be missed.

WCC Report – WCC are to have a new website by the end of the year as part of the digital transformation. C Cllr Les Caborn has a portfolio of £250 million for Public Health, Child and Adult Social Care. Warwickshire Fire and Rescue are available to take people home from hospital and later check on the residents, this will help free hospital beds more quickly. Firefighters from Warwickshire are helping at the fire at Saddleworth Moor. The school transport review policy is ongoing. Passenger Assistants will no longer be on school buses but CCTV will be installed. Road safety funds are available for Shrewley Parish and new ideas to reduce traffic speed would be welcomed by Parish Cllrs. 2019 is Coventry and Warwickshire Year of Wellbeing and plans are underway to encourage people to help themselves to keep fit.

WDC Report – St Nicolas Leisure Centre is now open. Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre is opening a new café and climbing wall soon. Everyone Active membership has increased substantially. The 4th stage of the Mens Cycle Tour of Britain starts in Nuneaton and finishes in Leamington Spa on the 5th September.

Shrewley Parish Parents – New children’s tables and chairs have been purchased and are available for hirers of the Village Hall. A meeting with the Trustees of the Village Hall has been arranged in September to discuss the children’s playground. Future SPPG events are advertised on Notice Boards and Shrewley website. Friends of Hatton Station – Chiltern Railway have marked the parking bays. Planters are in full bloom and the watering season has begun so volunteers are welcomed! An onsite meeting with Network Rail and the media has been requested to discuss the refurbishment of Hatton Station bridge.

Neighbourhood Watch – Residents are warned that burglaries of shed/outbuildings in the parish are on the increase. Please ensure you have adequate security in place. Low cost shed alarms are a good deterrent.

Phone boxes in Little Shrewley and Hatton Station – Hatton Station’s box has been painted and a map of the area is to be displayed. Thanks were passed to the group for all their work on the box and a maintenance plan is to be devised. Little Shrewley’s phone box displays a map and historical information. Offers of help to maintain the boxes along with suggestions for use are always welcome!

Highway and Public Footpath/Towpath Maintenance and Repair – Hatton Station speed survey results will be available at www.shrewley.org
Shrewley Common footways will be inspected by WCC Peter Hallam and local Parish Councillors. WCC councilor Les Caborn is pursuing our request for WCC Forestry to prune back the conifers at the end of Ash Close. A large road repair on the Hockley Road opposite Boundary Cottage will require a road closure and a request to jet the drains by Shrewley House at the same time has been made.

Warwickshire Rights of Way Team has an online Fault Report System http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/rowreporting. However, fault reports which have been submitted for Shrewley remain unresolved.

A list of reported Highway and public footpath faults can be viewed on www.shrewley.org. from the Parish Council page. If you know of any unreported problems, please let the Parish Council know.

Village Hall – The removal of the rocks at the back of the Village Hall is complete and the area is safe except for a wire sticking up from the ground. The wall pillars have been painted with a weatherproof solution to prevent them deteriorating and the electricity to the telephone kiosk should be reinstated shortly.
