Friends of Hatton Station – Further work is to be carried out on Hatton Station road bridge DCL 167. The brickwork is being repaired and repainting continued. Canal & River Trust- Around 80% of the plastic in our oceans comes from litter dropped inland. Research shows that 1,562 items of plastic (bottles, food wrappers, bags etc.) leave one of our canals or rivers and head to the sea every single day. That’s more than 500,000 items each year. All that litter and plastic also damages the wildlife that live in and around our waterways and hedgerows. Much of it laying unseen under the surface of the water.
Pick it up - if everyone who visits one of our canals or rivers picked up just one piece of plastic, the waterways would be clear within a year!
Shrewley Parish Council is looking to get people involved in improving a stretch of the canal. It’s a way to put something back and the wildlife that live there will love you for it. Further details will be in the September Newsletter.
