Congratulations to Viv Morgan who has been warded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to education. Viv set up the school for bullied children in 2012 and it now supports up to 30 children who have suffered from extreme bullying.
WCC Report – The social health budget has been reduced by 3.5% which is a loss of £22 million across the country. Coventry and Warwickshire’s ‘Year of Well-being’ starts this week and many Warwickshire primary schools are taking part in walking a daily mile. Chris Ham, the ex-Chief Executive of The Kings Fund has taken up the role of independent Chair of ‘Better Health, Better Care, Better Value’, Coventry and Warwickshire’s sustainability and transformation partnership (STP) in an effort to provide better health and care services. Warwick Hospital came 2nd best in the UK for meeting the A&E 4.5 hours waiting target. A school bus is now transporting pupils from Hatton Station to Ferncumbe School although numbers are low. Discussions are taking place regarding linking the WCC redesigned website to the parish websites.
WDC Report – Police have prioritised speeding in Shrewley Common and have been carrying out speed checks.

Neighbourhood Watch – Residents are warned that burglaries in the parish are on the increase. Please ensure you have adequate security in place. Low cost alarms are a good deterrent.
Phone boxes in Little Shrewley and Hatton Station – Offers of help to maintain the boxes along with suggestions for use are always welcome!
Highway and Public Footpath/Towpath Maintenance and Repair – A slurry seal on both sides of Shrewley Common pavement has been added to the programme of work. Residents have received a notice requesting they trim overlapping front hedges in order for the work to be carried out.
Warwickshire Rights of Way Team has an online Fault Report System http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/rowreporting.
A list of reported Highway and public footpath faults can be viewed on www.shrewley.org. from the Parish Council page. If you know of any unreported problems, please let the Parish Council know.
Friends of Hatton Station – The refurbishment of the road bridge over the railway (DCL167) has begun.
Village Hall – A training session for residents to use the defibrillator will be available soon, details to follow. Shrewley Parish Parents Groups project plan for the children’s play area has been accepted by the Village Hall Committee and the group has merged into the Village Hall organisation. An application has been made to get part of the field behind the Hall reinforced for overflow parking. Both the Craft Fayre in November and the recent ‘Christmas Capers’ were a success. The Social Club remains active with live shows and movies.
