This FREE session is aimed at new councillors and gives an introduction to planning matters, the planning process and the respective roles of the District Council (the Planning Authority) and Town/Parish Councils.

The objectives of this session are:

  • to familiarise participants with the overall framework of the planning system and where development management fits into this
  • to explain the basic components of the development management process and where Parish/Town Councils fit in
  • to explain some key concepts of the development management decision-making process, to enable Town/Parish Councils to relate to these effectively
  • to outline the processes and procedures in neighbourhood planning and the role of Town and Parish Councils

This event is being run by Stratford District Council and is open to Parish and Town Councillors & Clerks from the Stratford on Avon District area.
