Free open event
Western Power Distribution Stakeholder Workshop

Western Power Distribution are the company responsible for keeping the lights on, dealing with emergencies, connecting renewables to the network and a range of initiatives to help people in vulnerable situations and in fuel poverty – across the midlands.

They are running a series of stakeholder workshops where they seek feedback from a range of stakeholders on the company’s future plans.  It’s really important that they get good representation from town and parish councillors at these events as many of the topics are of real relevance for them.

This is not a marketing initiative. WPD get no money for doing this – but they have an onus placed on them to ensure that their business decisions reflect the views of their stakeholders. The events are completely free and lunch is provided.

RSA Warwickshire - Creating Low Carbon Communities

After the success of the recent meeting “How Low-Carbon is Your Community” led by Harbury Energy Initiative, a second event aims to encourage local communities as well as RSA members to get actively involved.  This includes developing new initiatives and supporting existing ones to take more action towards creating a low carbon future.

We’ll hear about new funding for rural community energy projects - and details of a major funding bid for ecological projects (along the route of HS2).  Crucially, attendees will be asked whether forming a 'Support Hub' would be helpful for those already or wanting to become actively involved - and what you'd hope it would achieve.

CANCELLED NALC Spring Conference 2020

NALC were informed that Aviva has taken the responsible decision, given its size, to cancel for the foreseeable future all internal and external events at Aviva due to the risk of Coronavirus. The Aviva City of London office remains open. As a result, NALC’s Spring Conference due to be held on 17 March in the Auditorium of the Aviva City of London office is being postponed, and will now take place at a later date to be confirmed. Given the nature of the circumstances, and these being out of NALC’s control, we do hope those scheduled to attend will understand. More details will be made available in due course.

Board leadership: Supporting your charity through the next phase of the pandemic

Following the introduction of social distancing measures earlier this year, the focus of trustees has rightly on responding to the crisis. This involved understanding and managing a charity’s immediate financial position as well as making difficult decisions about delivering services differently and ensuring that staff and volunteers were safe and supported in their roles.

Making decisions in tough times

This webinar is now full. The recording will be available afterwards on NCVO's Coronavirus pages.

The webinar will be presented by Alex Farrow and Jenny Potkins, our in-house consultants focusing on strategy, impact and organisational development. Find out more about our strategy work here.

As voluntary organisations emerge from the immediate crisis of covid-19, rapid and significant decisions will need to be made about the future. Senior leaders and trustees will need to make choices about services, programmes and resources under conditions of great uncertainty.

Throughout the webinar, we’ll discuss:

• the big strategic challenges (and some opportunities) facing the voluntary sector
• the critical decisions facing charity leadership now
• balancing immediate and strategic choices
• how to make good decisions in a time of crisis

The session will be interactive and be followed by a 15-minute Q and A session.

This webinar is open to all but will be particularly useful for trustees and senior charity leaders.

Funding Strategy and Diversification post Covid -19

Wed 5 Aug 2020 10:00 -15:00
See NCVO website for details
Funding Strategy and Diversification post Covid -19

This online course will help you understand and analyse the current funding situation of your organisation and teach you how to plan for the future. We’ll use key strategic tools, a funding strategy template (that you’ll adapt and tailor) and help you consider various sources of funding that are most suitable for your organisation including looking at diversification.

By the end of the day you will:

  • Feel confident analysing your funding portfolio
  • Fully grasp the income spectrum
  • Have identified which sources of funding are most suitable for your organisation
  • Considered where you could diversify and how you could approach it
  • Have a clear understanding of the key components of a funding strategy
This course is aimed at people responsible for funding in small and medium-sized charities. It is best suited to those who have responsibility for developing a funding strategy and those seeking to diversify their income.

It is useful if you already have an understanding of the key principles of fundraising and we recommend you do the key principles of fundraising in the voluntary sector course first.

For more information, prices and booking details, please click here to visit the NCVO website.

Bounce Back from COVID! N Warks & Rugby

WCAVA's recent State of the Sector survey highlighted that 60% of organisations who responded had reduced activity in a significant way in response to the pandemic. Although it is still too early to determine the full extent of the impact from the coronavirus pandemic, it is still expected to be a smaller sector that emerges.

WCAVA wants to help groups to bounce back and tackle the challenges they face on resuming or expanding activities over the next few months as lockdown eases.

The event will cover topics such as:

• Share issues/problems and hear how others are tackling these

• Recovery planning

• Keeping volunteers safe and recruiting new ones

• Financial implications-fundraising

• Facility opening

• Good governance in a pandemic

The events will be delivered by Zoom and a meeting ID and a password will be emailed prior to the event. Click here to book.
