The growth in social media use has been rapid; and today it is used by all ages and all types of organisation. There is no doubt that Facebook and Twitter are the most widely used; and so we are running two workshops, looking at why and how to put your parish on these social networks.
Getting Started with Twitter will show you how to set up a Twitter profile, find followers and follow others. You will learn how to compose Tweets, include media such as photographs, use hashtags, engage with others and send direct messages.
Putting Your Organisation on Facebook will guide you through the process of creating a Facebook profile and page, posting to and administering the page, finding and engaging with followers, and liking and engaging with other organisations’ pages. It will also work through the process of setting up and administering a Facebook Group.
David Green is director of Green Pepper Consulting, a social enterprise that provides training and support to VCSE and other civil society organisations. He has run a number of social media workshops in Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire.
