This event is open to Parish Councillors in Stratford upon Avon area together with District Councillors and those from the County Council that have constituencies in this part of the County. This time it will not set out to be a training session it is about sharing our combined knowledge and trying to identify improvements.
The theme this year is Rural Transport something that is a concern to all Parish Councils. We are interpreting this topic in the broadest possible terms so it will involve everything from scheduled bus routes through community minibuses down to volunteer drivers.
We will have short presentations from a Town Council that has won a notional award for their innovative initiative; from the three tiers of Government locally talking about their roles and from some examples of voluntary providers of some of these services.
There will be an important discussion section of the programme that will ask the delegates to briefly consider what provision they currently know about; what issues result from the current level of provision and this will be followed by a longer session exploring what opportunities there are to change things in the future. This may be doing some things differently; involving more partners; pooling financial resources and staff and identifying new things that are not currently happening.
We are expecting there will be a high demand for seats on this topic so Councils will be limited to two places each.
We hope this will be an enjoyable and thought provoking session that will generate lots of discussion and ideas.
