WALC provides training under the 'National Improvement Strategy for Parish and Town Councils'
The National Training Strategy (NTS) represents a national commitment to training in the local council sector shared by national, regional and local stakeholder organisations. The purpose of the Strategy is to offer training to councils in order for them to make the most of their role and carry out their duties more easily.
This essential training session aimed at Councillors and Clerks is part of the 'Understanding Your Council' series, and will provide an overview on Parish/Town Council matters over a series of 6 sessions.
It will benefit new and seasoned Councillors as an introduction, or refresher on up to date practices.
Each session is stand alone and can be attended in any order.
This session will be led by Bill Robinson and is aimed at both Clerks and Councillors. While it is logical that Part One is taken before Part Two it is not essential as there is no overlap between the two courses
This session concentrates on Parish Councils and the law and how they operate through meetings.

The theme this year is Rural Transport something that is a concern to all Parish Councils. We are interpreting this topic in the broadest possible terms so it will involve everything from scheduled bus routes through community minibuses down to volunteer drivers.
We are expecting there will be a high demand for seats on this topic so Councils will be limited to two places each.
