Councillor Commission: Hearing the Voice of the Councillor

The talk will present the commission’s findings, focussing on the portion of the research conducted with parish and town councils across England. It will cover themes such as working relationships with principal authorities, central policy change and devolution, perceptions.

Formal AGM

At the AGM members vote on the membership subscription for the Association as proposed by the County Committee. Members of the County Committee for the year 2018 - 2019 are appointed or reported to the AGM. The Committee is a representative body for parish and town councils in Warwickshire, Solihull, Coventry and Birmingham. The Committee plays a very important role in representing the views and needs of member parish and town councils, and manages the Association. It is imperative that there is a good representation from across the area.

Where there are active Area Committees of the Association, nominations to the County Committee are made through these Area Committees.

Resolutions

Individual Councils are invited to submit resolutions to be moved by members at WALC’s AGM. Resolutions need to be concerned with issues that affect the majority of councils.

These need to be received IN WRITING NOT LATER THAN 9.00 AM WEDNESDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2018. Earlier notification would be very welcome.

Rachel Wall

De Montfort University

Rachel is a PhD Researcher and lecturer within the Local Governance Research Unit and Department of Politics and Public Policy at De Montfort University, Leicester. Rachel has been the researcher to the De Montfort University and Municipal Journal Councillor Commission and has co-authored the commission’s final report. She has also previously worked as a local government officer and served as a parish councillor.

NALC Young Councillor of the Year

Kellie has been a Councillor for over 6 years, Former Mayor of Henley-on-Thames, NALC Young Councillor of the Year, Sue Ryder Women of Achievement 2018 nominee (awards in Feb) 32 years old, working, mother of one.
