It’s been a tough time for Councils this year!  Now is the time to make sure you have the funds to support your community, whilst ensuring financial control and good governance.

This essential training session aimed at Councillors and Clerks is part of the 'Understanding Your Council' series, and will provide an overview onCouncil Finance and Governance and the role and responsibilities of a Councillor.

 It will benefit new and seasoned Councillors as an introduction, or refresher on up to date practices.

Record of attendance at training events is required when applying for the Local Council Awards Scheme

Fees

£25.00 per delegate for Member Councils

Members will will receive a £15 discount when registering for a third event in the 'Understanding Your Council' series.
(3 sessions for £60.00 total)

Non-member fee £50.00

Help with Delegate’s Fees

WALC will subsidise member councils

  • Members with a budgeted income up to £15,000 will get half price for all delegates
  • Members with a budgeted income between £15,001 & £30,000 can send two for the price of one
  • due to the low capacity of the course we cannot offer subsidies to larger Councils

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE THE AGREEMENT OF YOUR COUNCIL TO PAY THE COURSE FEE

Cancellations

Any delegate cancellations

must be received in writing 5 days before the event for a full refund of the fee. Substitute delegate(s) may be named at any time up to the event.

Experienced Tutor

Kim has over 10 years’ experience in the local council sector, initially as a council clerk, then as a councillor and County Officer for Gloucestershire, where she developed and instigated advice and training for councillors and clerks.

Seeing numerous changes, she has incorporated many new ideas and details into her courses to enable her attendees to ‘hit the ground running’ with enthusiasm and knowledge.
