A local council clerk for over 40 years Alan spent most of his professional career as the Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer of large urban council on the outskirts of Norwich where he managed a busy cemetery and closed churchyard. He is a founder member, national chairman and now honorary vice-president of the Society of Local Council Clerks and has been delivering training on local council cemetery and churchyard management to clerks and councillors for many years. Alan has been a member of the Ministry of Justice Burial and Cremation Advisory Group since 2001, and former Society representative on the Board of the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons. (BRAMM).
