Clifford Chambers & Milcote is a small, vibrant Parish located to the south of Stratford-upon-Avon. Residents are supportive and interested in maintaining strong community values. The Parish Council comprises six members, currently with two Councillor vacancies to be filled.

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to serve as Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). This is a part-time role for a minimum of 6 hours per week, worked flexibly. The post-holder must, however, be available to attend the main parish council meeting on the third Wednesday of each month (except August and December).

The position is home-based, with the parish council providing a laptop. The Clerk is reimbursed for all consumable expenses incurred in carrying out duties. Salary is in accordance with the National Joint Salary scale LC1 (£16 per hour), depending on qualifications and experience, and subject to on-going review.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing agendas, taking minutes, and providing clear guidance to Councillors before decisions are reached.
  • Managing the Council’s finances, including record-keeping, budgeting, and presentation of accounts.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations governing parish councils.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for the community and external stakeholders.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and ensuring the council meets its statutory obligations.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Financial management and numeracy skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT, including email and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of local government procedures (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly.
